Services

WEAVE is the only tax-exempt non-profit organization in Washington D.C. — and one of only a few nationwide — that provides  comprehensive services to domestic violence survivors. WEAVE is special because we see the individual—not just the violence they experienced. We know that each individual has a broad range of needs including legal, economic, social, physical and emotional. We work to fill those needs whenever we can.

Our services include:

  • Safety and Needs Assessments
  • Full Legal Representation (for emergency and long-term legal issues)
  • Advice and Mentoring for Self Representation
  • Group and Individual Counseling
  • Empowerment Advocacy (often called Case Management)
  • Employment Information Legal Support
  • Referrals for Other Services
  • Technical Assistance for Attorneys
  • Education to Young People and Adults about Relationship Violence

The holistic services model ensures services are readily accessible and coordinated between highly trained and experienced attorneys, licensed clinical social workers, economic advocates and mental health professionals. (Learn more by visiting the home page.)

Unlike many other organizations in the District of Columbia, WEAVE provides all of our services without income restrictions and will help victims of domestic violence, regardless of their income level. However, whenever appropriate, WEAVE utilizes a modest sliding scale for individuals with means.
